As expected, more Ultramarines got painted. I'm wrapping up the detail work on the first ten infantry models. Well, seven models because three of them were done back in July or so.

It kind of amazes me how much work went into these models. While most of them are built from Games Workshop plastic kits, a fair number of them incorporate resin parts from Forge World. In particular, the torsos on most of my sergeants will be Ultramarine Praetorian torsos to mark which models have Artificer Armor. In normal 40k, these are Veteran Sergeants.
There's also a distinct lack of holstered bolt pistols in the plastic kits. Every box of ten MkIV Space Marines only comes with six bolt pistols. If you've got a local game group that is picky about modeling all the war gear on the model, this presents problems. Personally I try to model all the war gear on my Ultramarines to break up the monotony of blue armor plates everywhere. So I needed bolt pistols and I ran out of grenades. Which was solved by ordering bolt pistol packs from Forge World, granting me a bunch of spare ammo packs in addition to the grenades and bolt pistols I needed.

I should be finishing up the other five models within a few days. After that I think I'll paint something that isn't an infantry model as a change of pace. I think a Contemptor Dreadnought will fit the bill nicely.
