More notes on the denizens.

The Misbegotten

The scars of the supernal come in many forms, but the living creatures left behind by some otherworldly event or place are known as the misbegotten.  Most misbegotten are products of the Titanomachy's battles, with another large portion produced by the Shattering.  Rarer are misbegotten warped by theurgy or Godbound.  The misbegotten are rarely intentional creations and typically unique creatures with unpredictable abilities.  A few misbegotten have bred true, however.  Those who have been changed by the Uncreated Night are very much like misbegotten, but are known as Nightborn instead.

The Outsiders

One of three types of beings known to inhabit the Uncreated Night, the outsiders are the most comprehensible to the peoples of the World.  Though they change shape and often behave strangely, the outsiders find the World and its contents to be endlessly intriguing.  Some Outsiders say that Proteans may be Outsiders who chose to forget their origins in the Uncreated Night or donned the persona of a mortal so thoroughly that they forgot what they were.  The Outsiders certainly treat many things as a kind of story or play, with each playing a part.

Spirits

Spirits were created by the Old Titans to maintain the Celestial Orrery and bound by contracts written in the Divine Words to be subservient to their creators.  They are inherently immaterial and bound to a single Word.  Spirits often long to become True Gods and scheme to achieve such an exalted state.

Titanspawn

Once the Old Titans had discovered that the True Gods were in open rebellion and the nature of the Godbound armies, they fashioned their own army.  They were forged divinities known as Titanspawn and they were many in form and design.  Most Titanspawn died in the Titanomachy, though some survived or were so potent they could only be sealed away.

(Titanspawn use the rules for Made Gods.  They do not require maintenance like Made Gods, having been directly by using the Divine Words)

The Uncreated

One of the three types of beings that inhabit the Uncreated Night alongside the Outsiders and the Excrucians, the Uncreated are innumerable and mutable horrors from beyond.  They defy any easy classification other than they are not Excrucians or Outsiders.  Like all denizens of the Uncreated Night, their very existence is inimical to the miracles and gifts of Divine Words.

The Undead

While liches and vampires are often thought of as undead, they still possess souls.  True undead do not possess any animating force beyond the will of the theurgist or Godbound who created them.  Undead are typically created by mortal necromancers, though they are not the only source of the walking dead.

The Word-Mad

There are spirits who took a left-hand path towards true godhood, and became something distinctly wrong in the process.  They tried to make another Word a part of themselves and went insane.  Now such Word-Mad are driven to find Wordbound and consume their bound Words.  As they consume more Words, they change and become more... titanic.
