Lux Aeterna: The Dwarves of Terra

The dwarves were actually pretty tricky to write about.

Terran Dwarf

A dwarf is a very rare sight on Terra, as the species is only known through a few mountain fortresses on the Ur continent.  Diminutive but broad, most of the sturdy dwarves live their entire lives underground.  Those who do business or adventure above ground wear distinctive yellow goggles to protect their light-sensitive eyes.  The dwarves are known for their craftsmanship and hardiness, making them valuable allies in both mercantile and military matters.

Dwarven society is boisterous, with art and song valued as much as hard goods.  Most of their songs are about famous events in dwarven history, but there's no shortage of ribald tunes either.  In serious matters, the dwarves adhere to an honor-bound feudal structure, owing fealty to the lords and ladies of their holds.  In return for obedience, the dwarven nobility is obligated to ensure the safety of their subjects; a duty that if left derelict can result in their subjects removing them from office.  Needless to say, tyrants don't last long in dwarven society.  The ruler of the dwarves is King Syd Ul'dah.

Dwarves claim to have been created by Gott, an eidolon of Titan.  There is likely some truth to the claim given the dwarves' legendary resiliency.  Most holds have a shrine to Gott in addition to other eidolons such as Kary and Midgarsomr.

Terran Dwarf Traits

Terran dwarfs are distinctly different from the standard Dungeons and Dragons dwarves.  Use the following traits instead of the entry in the Player's Handbook.

Ability Score Increases: Your Constitution score increases by 2 and your Intelligence score increases by 1.
Age: Dwarves are considered adults by the time they are 50, and typically live 800 years.
Alignment: As a general rule, dwarves lean towards lawful good, though this is not a hard rule.  Non-good dwarfs have a tendency towards a lawful alignment at worst.
Size:  Dwarves stand between 4 to 5 feet tall, though they are typically broader in the shoulders than a human is.  They typically weigh more than a human, with 180 pounds being the average weight.  Your size is Medium.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
Superior Darkvision: You can see in complete darkness out to 60 feet, though you cannot distinguish colors in the dark.  This comes with a price, as you have disadvantage on all checks in dim or brighter light unless you are wearing dwarven light goggles.
Titan's Gift:  You do not become unconscious when you reach 0 hit points and can act normally.  You must still make death saves at the start of your turn.  Every time you make a death save, make a DC 18 Constitution save; a failed save means you gain a level of exhaustion.
