The World II: The Godbound

Now to go into the various kinds of Godbound that inhabit the World.  Unless otherwise noted, the rules for these Godbound are found in the deluxe version of the rules.  Any changes to their mechanics are noted immediately after the entry.

Exemplars

The True Gods created the Exemplars as the wardens and leaders of the World's people, granting them the remit of mortal perfection.  Heroes were chosen for the first Exemplars, and the divine sparks that creates an Exemplar continue to choose those among the people who are paragons of their kind.  Though they are the least of the Godbound, only able to attain the perfection possible to mortals rather than working miracles, the Exemplars were responsible for the preservation of many civilizations and peoples during the Titanomachy.

Elemental Scions

Attuned to the five elements of the World, the scions were the bulk of the gods' armies during the Titanomachy.  They alone may found Godbound dynasties, passing their element-born power from one generation to the next, for the elemental Words that burn within them also limits their lifespan to a handful of centuries.  They are the most common Godbound, though not the most limited.

(There is one major change to how Elemental Scions work from their normal rules.  They may select Greater Gifts, but only from their associated elemental word.)

Undestined

The first Godbound that the True Gods created were the Fated, for the express purpose of repairing the damage to the World that the Titans would cause.  Their power was tied to the Celestial Orrery, able to make subtle corrections to the apparatus of Heaven from the World.  During the Titanomachy, the Fated not only worked frantically to keep the World from ripping itself apart from the strain, they also were engineers of destiny who nudged things 'just so' in order to tip battles in favor of the gods' armies.  When the Last Titan shattered Heaven and the Orrery with it, the Fated's powers warped and became something different.  They became the Undestined and unremembered.

Protean

In the centuries since the Shattering of the Celestial Orrery, new things have crept into pieces of the World from the Uncreated Night.  One of the new phenomenon are the Protean, which seem to be a type of Godbound that was never created by the True Gods.  Their powers appear related to the terrible Excrucian lords of the Uncreated Night.  Their shapes are as they will, their purpose is unknown even to themselves, and they are deeply distrusted by the people.

Assembled

After the Titanomachy had concluded, the gods and spirits sought to discover the secrets of creating Titanspawn, those artificial gods who commanded the titans' forces.  The closest they could create are artificial beings called Assembled, whose Divine Words could be interchangeable to a point.  In the aftermath of the Shattering, spirit courts still retain the knowledge of the Assembled's creation and maintenance.

Wordbound

After a titan was killed, a new thing appeared in the World.  There were people who became empowered by Divine Words but had not been created by the True Gods or the Old Titans.  Their forms were distorted by the raw power of the Words they wielded, and they became known as the Wordbound.  Of all the Godbound, the Wordbound are the most potent and dangerous for there seems to be no limit to their power.  True Gods, Old Titans, and Titanspawn were the only worthy opponents for an elder Wordbound.  It is whispered among the spirit courts that the Wordbound are the true heirs to the Old Titans.

(As a point of clarity, Wordbound are the 'default' Godbound covered in the character creation rules.)
